Barnes & Noble.com and Sirsi offer new services through the library

Press Release: SIRSI Corporation [January 24, 2003]

Huntsville, Alabama — January 24, 2003 — Sirsi Corporation, the leader in new-name sales of technology for libraries around the world*, and Barnes & Noble.com (NASDAQ: BNBN) (www.bn.com) have teamed up to provide libraries a service that allows their patrons to purchase books online while at the library. Sirsi customer libraries -those who have implemented the new Sirsi Rooms Context Management Solution and the iBistro, iLink and Web 2 user interface systems that include Barnes & Noble.com -- will receive a percentage of the purchase price for all materials bought through the Sirsi-Barnes & Noble.com partnership links.

"Sirsi will give participating libraries a check each year - the amount is based on the number of books that a given library's users purchased through the library system from Barnes & Noble.com. We are committed to helping libraries serve their communities. This is one way to give back to our customers," said Sirsi CEO Patrick C. Sommers. "We are excited to partner with a company like Barnes & Noble.com to provide Sirsi libraries with more tools to serve their user communities and an opportunity to increase the libraries' funding base."

"We are delighted to work with Sirsi on this program which is a natural extension of Barnes & Noble's commitment to serving communities across the country through our bookstores and online. Library patrons will have an opportunity to experience the many benefits of shopping at bn.com right from their local libraries," said MarieToulantis, CEO of Barnes & Noble.com. "Our over one million in-stock titles, and our vast selection of audio books, music, and DVDS, will be available to the library patrons along with discounts of up to 40% off list prices and free shipping with two or more items."
