Auto-Graphics and Palinet sign agreement to distribute AGent

Press Release: Auto-Graphics, Inc. [October 28, 2002]

POMONA, CA, October 28, 2002— Auto-Graphics, Inc. announces the signing of an agreement with PALINET to distribute Auto-Graphics' AGent to its member-based network of organizations. AGent is a single search portal software system and is available as a perpetual license with support, or, as a full service site hosted by Auto-Graphics (ASP annual fee).

Auto-Graphics' AGent allows users to simultaneously search multiple databases. The System manages patron authentication for multiple databases; insures copyright compliance against subscription databases; and can be customized at the local library level. The flexible design of AGent™ allows scaling from a single site to a multi-branch urban institution, or even statewide consortia.

“Today's libraries are under increased pressure to provide patron-centric library services. Auto-Graphics' product, AGent™, provides the library with a federated search engine, which allows both the patron and staff convenient access to disparate information sources. While there's no shortage of valuable information, there is an increased need to quickly search multiple vendor resources efficiently. AGent is designed for that purpose,” said Albert Flores, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Auto-Graphics.

Founded in 1936, PALINET is a nonprofit library network, headquartered in Philadelphia with a regional office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. PALINET's 600 member libraries, comprised of academic, public, school, and special libraries, are located in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and neighboring states. PALINET offers educational opportunities through classroom and online distance learning, and a cooperative purchasing program with pricing discounts on subscriptions, products and services. PALINET is an OCLC-affiliated network providing OCLC participants with access to OCLC products and services. For the latest information on PALINET, visit www.palinet.org.

PALINET's mission is to deliver high-quality, knowledge-based, and cost-effective information services to our member libraries. AGent™ represents such a solution for accessing the variety of information libraries desire," states Ann Yurcaba, PALINET's Manager of Information and Education Services.

Auto-Graphics provides software and services to clients who create, manage, publish, and access information using the Internet. Auto-Graphics' systems are used by more than 10,000 libraries in the United States and Canada.
