Paris, France - June 10th, 1999 - Only weeks after the Montpellier Library Network and the Cannes Public Library selected Best-Seller, the Issy-les-Moulineaux Médiathèque has announced that it has chosen Best-Seller's web-based Portfolio software as its complete library automation system.
Situated to the south-west of Paris, the Issy-les-Moulineaux Médiathèque is one of the most active multi-media centers in France. With over 20,000 registered patrons, it boasts over 600,000 loans per year with an average of 30,000 loans at any one time.
Todd A. Joron, President and CEO, says, « The Library looked for a product line that was not only Internet-ready and state-of-the-art, but also robust and reliable. With up to 700 loans per hour at peak times, the Issy-les-Moulineaux Médiathèque needed a proven solution that could handle its demanding and growing workload. »
The Issy-les-Moulineaux Médiathèque is comprised of a main branch, an annex and 6 language laboratories and boasts a varied multimedia collection of books, periodicals, music CDs and film videos for both adults and children. In addition, the Médiathèque staff manages the collections of 22 school and kindergarten libraries and conducts various introductory courses on the Internet and the use of CD-ROMs.
This latest contract of $310,000 represents another important success for Best-Seller who, since opening their European headquarters in Paris, has now added some of the largest libraries in France to their existing European client base. The Issy-les-Moulineaux Multi-media center is expected to be operational by year's end
