Abstract: Inmagic, Inc. announces the acquisition of the integrated library system BiblioTech PRO, the flagship product of Comstow Information Services, Inc.

Woburn, MA. Inmagic, Inc., leading developer of library automation and information management software for special librarians, announces the acquisition of the integrated library system (ILS) BiblioTech PRO, the flagship product of Comstow Information Services, Inc.

With installations in Fortune 500 companies and government agencies throughout the country, BiblioTech PRO is a comprehensive system for cataloging, searching and retrieving, tracking and reporting corporate information resources.

Inmagic, which in recent years has delivered Web-based knowledge management applications such as competitive intelligence and patent searching to its worldwide customer base, is set to move into the ILS market with a global launch of BiblioTech PRO via the company's established worldwide distribution channels.

"Inmagic has long been known for flexibility and the breadth of applications we offer," said Inmagic president and CEO Phillip Green. "We're very pleased now to add depth to the Inmagic product line with BiblioTech PRO for those requiring its rigorous ILS capabilities," said Green. "Inmagic is now a ‘one-source' company with a cross-platform product line offering something for everyone, from the solo librarian seeking a Windows desktop application to the librarian in a multi-staff environment requiring a high-end UNIX application."

Moulton, key personnel to join Inmagic

Comstow founder and president Lynda Moulton and the Comstow development team join Inmagic, effective immediately. Moulton will serve as Inmagic's Director of Integrated Library Systems. Trained as a special librarian, Moulton has taught library science on the graduate level and published numerous articles on the automation aspects of information management. Before founding Comstow in 1980, Moulton held positions at a number of academic and corporate libraries.

"This merger of the BiblioTech staff with Inmagic and the addition of our product line to theirs is what consolidation in our industry should be about," said Moulton. "We're putting complementary products together, which service the same industry, to produce better products and enhanced services. Our strong ILS technology and Inmagic's superb sales and marketing operation position us to be the premier software company in the industry we both service, special libraries," said Moulton.
