St. Paul, MN – October 26, 2010– 3M Library Systems announced today two new customers that have chosen 3M library solutions to meet the demands in their communities and better service their patrons.
The Vestavia Hills Public Library in Birmingham, Alabama will soon begin tagging 90,000 items in its collection with 3M RFID Tags in conjunction with its purchase of a 3M RFID System, which includes 3M SelfCheck Systems, staff workstations, detection systems, Digital Library Assistant and conversion system. The new system will not only allow staff to scan an entire shelf of books at one time, but will allow several items to be checked out simultaneously versus one at a time. The library is scheduled to open mid-November.
The Wethersfield Public Library in Hartford, Connecticut, has chosen the 3M RFID System to help handle a circulation increase of more than 15%, so staff will remain able to provide a high level of patron services. The library will soon begin tagging its more than 100,000 items to allow self-checkout and return with the 3M SelfCheck System. The total RFID project will be implemented as funds become available, with an expected completion in 2015.
