Abstract: Serials Solutions has enhanced the 360 services to improve e-resource access and management at medical libraries. Users now can browse and find resources using the 2009 Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) through the 360 Core E-Journal Portal.

Serials Solutions has enhanced the 360 services to improve e-resource access and management at medical libraries. Users now can browse and find resources using the 2009 Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) through the 360 Core E-Journal Portal.

This enhancement supplements recent medical-focused features. In 2009, Serials Solutions added 1.2 million National Library of Medicine eBook MARC records and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) data to KnowledgeWorks. Serials Solutions also integrated the PubMed LinkOut service with the 360 Link OpenURL link resolver.

"We’ve been very pleased with the services we receive from Serials Solutions," says Bob Pisciotta, Associate Director and Head of Technical Services at the University of Kansas Medical Center Archie Dykes Library. "Medical libraries are usually smaller operations, and Serials Solutions has allowed us to make the best use of the staff we have. Our clientele have gotten comfortable with the use of the E-Journal Portal and 360 Link, which are our main discovery tools for online content. I believe that our clientele will also embrace the MeSH browsing service. Altogether, we’re very happy with our relationship with Serials Solutions."

In 2010 Serials Solutions plans to update the current MeSH vocabulary in KnowledgeWorks with 2010 descriptor data and to enhance the Serials Solutions 360 management tools for MeSH data.

"We are continually gathering suggestions from medical librarians as to how we can enhance our services to better meet their needs," says Leslie Lapham, Serials Solutions Product Manager for the KnowledgeWorks knowledgebase. "We are committed to improving the resource discovery experience in medical libraries and providing better access to and value from the resources that medical libraries purchase."
