February 1, 2005 Geac Libraries Division are pleased to announce that Roosendaal Public Library has selected Vubis Smart library automation system.
Roosendaal, in the west of the province of Noord-Brabant, is well known by train travellers. Back in 1854, a Belgian company constructed a train link to Antwerp. This was a big event for the city of Roosendaal. The public library has been a Tobias user for years and will switch to Vubis Smart in the first half of 2005. The Public Library has 5 branches, not only in the city of Roosendaal but also in nearby town Wouw.
As from January 1, 2006, Roosendaal Public Library will merge with two public libraries in the region, Halderberge and Moerdijk. The public library is in the heart of the city. The building in which the library is situated will be renovated in 2005. After it’s completion the library will be sharing the building with both commercial and non-commercial partners, including a bookshop and a voluntary work advisory centre.
This is a unique concept that is realised within existing budgets in cooperation with ´Aramis Wonen´ which is a housing facility cooperation. The building will be named ‘Parrotia’, named after a tree which is located in the gardens of the building & will become an institute for a much wider audience, not only the citizens of Roosendaal, but for the entire region.
