Abstract: This article describes the four phases the University of San Francisco underwent in moving from InfoTrac CD to the character cell, telnet version to the Web interface. It illustrates the steps taken to provide students with full-text remote access to academic databases. Methods of use are compared, and search techniques are illustrated in detail. The databases are briefly described, content coverage and article selection guidelines are discussed, Web system requirements are outlined, and customer support options are listed. This is part of an ongoing effort to discuss and evaluate journal databases for community colleges and universities.
