The Flevoland Public Libraries in the Netherlands have awarded the task of developing a new OPAC search solution to Medialab Solutions bv, creators of AquaBrowser Library.
AquaBrowser Library connects to the Integrated Library System of the Flevoland libraries, creating a portal into the libraries' catalogs, regional and even national collections and databases. The library patrons get a smart and easy single access-point to a variety of resources.
The Flevoland collections that will be coupled with the new search solution include the Rijksarchief (National archive), the archief van het Sociaal Historisch Centrum (Archive of the Historical Social Center) and the collection from Het Oude Raadhuis (Urk City Museum).
What is unique about AquaBrowser Library as a search tool is not only the efficiency of its relevance-based results, but the visual word cloud that offers associations and related terms are given, right next to a patron's original query term.
Initiation of AquaBrowser Library was made possible through a subsidy from the Province of Flevoland, in the directive of library-rejuvenation.
The signing of the contract implementing AquaBrowser Library for Flevoland took place today with the Directors of the Almere and Lelystad Public Libraries, the CEO of Medialab Solutions b.v., and the Director of Flevoland Library Service Office all present. Also present were Ronald Spanier, Project Leader of the AquaBrowser implementation, and Helga van Gelder, Account Manager for Medialab Solutions.
The public library patrons of Flevoland will get to benefit from AquaBrowser Library when it goes 'live' October of this year.
