Abstract: Dynix reported a very successful month in January. During the month, Dynix acquired three new customers and undertook five Dynix-to-Horizon migrations.

PROVO, Utah - March 10, 2005 - Dynix, the world's leading provider of automation technologies, solutions, and services for libraries, today reported a very successful month in January. During the month, Dynix acquired three new customers and undertook five Dynix-to-Horizon migrations.

Dynix began the year with two new customer sales, one in the academic market and the other in the public market. Austin Memorial Library (Cleveland, TX), which circulates 77,000 items each year from a collection of 40,000, left its Sagebrush Athena system after searching for a product that was SIP and NCIP compliant. The library also sought an automation system that was powered by a full-service family of automation products.

Austin Memorial Library chose the Horizon Integrated Library System following an extensive RFP process in which the library staff crafted an exhaustive list of necessary components for the new system and then evaluated each of the options available. Following demonstrations from Dynix and other vendors, the library chose Horizon.

"We liked the flexibility of Horizon and the ability to easily customize the system to our needs," said Mary Merrell, Assistant Library Director at Austin Memorial. "Horizon met all the criteria we had for a new system, and we feel that it will allow us to provide more services to our patrons while reducing work for our staff."

In the Asia-Pacific region, Ormond College Library (Parkville, Victoria, New Zealand) chose Horizon after evaluating Horizon against competing systems available in the area.

"We are very excited to welcome Ormond College as a new customer," said Dynix President and CEO Jack Blount. "We are pleased that after a thorough review of the marketplace, Ormond College felt that Horizon would best support its needs and provide the best service possible to its users. Dynix is focusing on growing our large install base of academic libraries. We have specifically addressed many of their unique needs, such as unifying their campus with our OPAC, HIP 4.0, which provides a native uPortal environment."

In addition to Austin Memorial Library and Ormond College, Dallas County Law Library (Dallas, TX) also purchased the Horizon Integrated Library System and became a new Dynix customer.

Dynix-to-Horizon Migrations

Between December 31 and January 31, the following customers extended their successful relationships with Dynix by signing contracts to move from Dynix ILS to the Horizon Integrated Library System:

  • Twin Lakes School Corporation (Monticello, IN)
  • Nevada County Library (Nevada City, CA)
  • Brown County Library (Green Bay, WI)
  • Cherokee County Public Library (Gaffney, SC)
  • Port Pirie Public Library (Port Pirie, South Australia)
