Toronto — June 23, 2003 — Sirsi Corporation, the leader in new-name sales of technology for libraries around the world*, announced today its partnership with Relais International, the leading provider of intelligent document delivery systems. The partnership will enhance the Unicorn® Library Management System by integrating Unicorn with Relais™ Enterprise, a fully functional interlibrary loan (ILL) module that locates and orders documents through traditional ILL services and responds to requests from other libraries and patrons. "This partnership will deliver additional functionality, flexibility, and features to assist Sirsi libraries in all aspects of ILL," said Berit Nelson, Sirsi's vice president of product management. "Integration of Unicorn and Relais Enterprise will radically improve efficiency through the use of NCIP, the NISO Circulation Interchange Protocol."

Guaranteeing a seamless interface between Unicorn and Relais Enterprise, the partnership will provide all operations and functions needed to locate, order, track, respond to, and deliver materials and resources - while eliminating the need for re-keying patron or library data. "Through NCIP, Unicorn and Relais Enterprise will automatically update database records in real-time, thereby increasing speed, accuracy, and ease-of-use," said Nelson. "Relais is a world leader in providing automated and intelligent solutions to libraries for document delivery and interlibrary loan. We're delighted to integrate these products to benefit our customers."

Relais Enterprise fully integrates interlibrary loan request management functionality with scanning and electronic delivery. The initial phase of Sirsi and Relais integration will bring together circulation and ILL functionality for both staff and patrons. "This partnership and the integration of Sirsi and Relais products will make the option of a more efficient, streamlined ILL operation a reality for both Relais and Sirsi customers," said Clare MacKeigan, general manager of Relais International Inc. "We are delighted to partner with such an innovative and forward-thinking ILS vendor that represents more than 10,000 libraries worldwide."
