INWOOD, WV, May 9, 2003 — Plum Creek Library System in Minnesota will upgrade from a Dynix system to Library.Solution, The Library Corporation's (TLC's) integrated automation system.
Plum Creek Library System is a federated library system serving 25 public libraries and nine schools serving nine counties in southwestern Minnesota. The system has a collection of over 600,000 items, which its patrons will access on up to 200 networked stations using Library.Solution. Plum Creek also has a bookmobile that serves 38 towns.
Plum Creek sought a new system because its previous system offered “no bells and whistles, no graphic interface,” Plum Creek Director Jodi Reng explained. “(Our previous system) was obviously not modern. We decided it was time to enter the 21st century.”
Library staff especially liked the graphic interface offered by Library.Solution's PAC, Ms. Reng said. “We like the graphic interface and that it is fully customizable.”
The technical features and strengths of the new system are a boon, but “TLC people” also distinguish Library.Solution from other vendors and systems, Ms. Reng said. “Working with my TLC consultant and his manager, I had the feeling they were absolutely honest. I appreciated the integrity of TLC's personnel. In addition, TLC's Support Team never ‘talks down to you' or loses their patience, even if you ask the same question twice,” she explained.
In addition: “Because of the timing of our RFP, we ended up in a real time-squeeze,” Ms. Reng said. Our TLC Implementation Team is breaking their necks to keep us on our timeline. That's what's so impressive about TLC. Technology is technology, but when something doesn't work we have someone we can call who will make it their problem and their job to get it fixed -- that's what makes the ‘TLC difference.'”
