Civica announces successful Spydus10 go lives in February: Fairfield City, Penrith City, City of Armadal

Melbourne – 8 March 2016. Civica Library Solutions, a market leader in specialist software and outsourcing that help organisations to transform the way they work, has announced the successful go-lives of three new customers in Australia. In consecutive weeks in February, Fairfield City, Penrith City, both in NSW and City of Armadale in Western Australia, all migrated from their legacy systems to Spydus10 Civica's latest web-based system comprising library management, personalised patron discovery, digital asset management and archival functionality.

"I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to all the library teams involved in the implementation process," said Marc Nolan, Managing Director of Library Solutions. "Changing library systems requires significant staff commitment to the project, and the exceptional teamwork displayed between library and Civica staff enabled a smooth transition between systems. We look forward to working more with staff from Fairfield, Penrith, and Armadale libraries in years ahead."

Paul Scully, Manager Library Services, Fairfield City Open Libraries, has been very happy with the smooth migration to Spydus 10 and looks forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Civica. He said: " Staff have been impressed with many of the features of Spydus, specifically with the ease of use and most importantly with those features that allow us to provide improved service to our customers. Services like SMS alerts and notices not only allow us to implement cost saving processes but greatly improve the timeliness in which we can deliver services to our customers. The OPAC is much more than a traditional OPAC - it is intuitive and very user friendly. We are also excited by other features like online events bookings and the heritage module."

Penrith's Library Manager, Colin Stevenson, said that Penrith City Library staff had been very positive in replacing its existing in-house developed Library Management System, AXCIS 2. "The Library has operated its own in-house library management system since 1993, which provided the first fully integrated library self-checkout facility in Australia. It is now time to incorporate a greater range of contemporary services including better integration with mobile technology, greater utilisation of online digital resources, social media integration, enrichment of online public access catalogue interface and functionalities, image and object database management, and equipment/venue/events booking system".
