Kansas City Public Library's (MO) Civil War Project, Powered by Innovative's Vital, Wins Awards

Emeryville, CA—Innovative announced that the Kansas City Public Library's (MO) Civil War on the Western Border website, a custom implementation of Vital - Innovative's digital repository solution - has received three awards in 2014:

  • Award for Excellence in Public History, Society of Civil War Historians
  • Award of Merit, American Association for State & Local History
  • Autry Public History Prize, Western History Association

Innovative implemented Vital in Drupal, an open-source content management system, at the direction of the Library. The web presence engages Civil War buffs, scholars, students, and local residents in research and discussion on the Missouri-Kansas Border War that shook the region from 1854 to 1865. The Innovative team is also recognized as key contributors to the project on the website: www.civilwaronthewesternborder.org.
