Blacksburg, VA – Newcastle University of Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) has selected the Virtua Integrated Library System and Chamo Social OPAC by VTLS Inc. for management of its medical library.
NUMed selected Virtua through a competitive bidding process. It was determined that VTLS was the system that would best meet their needs.
NUMed Malaysia is an international branch campus of Newcastle University in the United Kingdom. The university offers programs to obtain undergraduate degrees in Medicine, Surgery and Biomedical Sciences. It also offers opportunities for postgraduate study. The Malaysia campus is located in the Iskandar Development region of Nusajaya in the southern state of Johor.
Levas Mejus, Senior Library Manager of NUMed's Library notes that the Virtua ILS "allows the library staff to easily manage the core library services, acquisitions, cataloguing and circulation which enable them to better serve the patrons. It helps to keep the library's collection more organized and makes it easier to find the right item."
