Annual Meeting Explores Next Gen Library Infrastructure
The 2012 PALCI Fall Member Meeting was held December 5 on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. The theme for the meeting was Next Gen Library Infrastructure.
During the meeting, the service of outgoing board members was recognized. Retiring from the board are Susan Campbell, Library Director, York College of Pennsylvania; Laverna Saunders, University Librarian, Duquesne University; and Carrie Rampp, Director of Library Services, Bucknell University.
The meeting kicked off with a keynote address by Carl Grant, President at CARE Affiliates consulting group and Executive Advisor to Dean of Libraries at Virginia Tech University. Attendees also heard presentations from staff at Swarthmore College, Bucknell University, and Villanova University on their advances in library technology infrastructures. In the afternoon sessions, member representatives met to discuss PALCI's initiatives on resource sharing, print archiving and joint e-resource acquisition.
As Peggy Seiden, incoming board president noted after the meeting, "This was our second meeting under the leadership of our new executive director, Cathy Wilt. In the past year, PALCI has been able to make great strides on the major strategic areas which the Board and members had identified as key priorities as well as strengthening our operational foundations. The energy in the room was wonderful…there was a real sense that PALCI continues to move forward in its mission to enhance library services and resource sharing within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and neighboring regions and that it is invaluable to our members."
