North Bethesda, MD Ė October 5, 2012 Ė Students in Lisa Bowman's Working with Information course in the University of the West of England's Information and Library Management Master's program will begin utilizing LibLime Academic Koha 5.0 this fall through LibLime's Koha with Class program.
LibLime will provide the class of approximately 25 students with a hosted installation of LibLime Academic Koha 5.0, free of charge. This will allow the students unlimited access and all privileges associated with the staff end of LibLime Academic Koha 5.0 as well as all OPAC functionality for the duration of the course. With the support for authority control and RDA, Ms. Bowman will be able to give her students a deep understanding of hands-on cataloging in an integrated library system.
Lisa Bowman, instructor of the Working with Information course, says "The education of information professionals requires a balance of that which is theoretical and anecdotal. Student feedback has been wholly positive for the practical element involved in Cat/Class and using Koha with Class will guarantee hands-on engagement with cataloguing tools that turn theory into action for the 21st century informed reflective practitioners."
