Blacksburg, VA- The Wawasan Open University (WOU), Malaysia, has selected VITAL for its Digital Asset Management System. VITAL will be used to store and manage the digital resources and documentation from various departments in the university. WOU, which installed Virtua in 2006, contracted for VITAL to manage digitized documents such as minutes of meetings, circulars, reports, policies, course programs, legal documents and their own publications. Access to the repository is secured, as some documents are for internal use only.
Wawasan Open University is Malaysia's first private, not-for-profit, open learning institution. The main campus in Penang and regional centers located in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Kota Bharu, Ipoh and Kuching are connected using the technological infrastructure for WawasanLearn, the university's online Learning Management System.
"We are very excited with our new record management system which makes it possible for us to offer an enhanced service to our clientele. It has enabled us to manage the electronic documents in their native format in a common repository with consistent protocols for organisation, retention and disposal. Our patrons are very excited about being able to search and view university records online now, which they could not do in the past. In addition, the accessibility of the records facilitates quality reviews and audit exercises. We are also very pleased with the implementation process, which went quite well," noted Kamsiah Mohd Ali, the Director of Learning and Library Services.
"We are extremely pleased that WOU has selected VITAL to complement their implementation of the Virtua Library System in the management of information resources in the organization. We are honored by their continuous support and trust in our visionary library solutions," said Gina Phan, Managing Director of VTLS Technologies Sdn. Bhd.
