(Civica) Civica announced that Hornsby Shire Council in New South Wales has chosen the Spydus10 web based integrated library management system, to be hosted in Civica’s Sydney data centre. Spydus10, released this month, is Civica’s complete web based system comprising library management, discovery, digital asset management and archival functionality. In addition to the Spydus10 core system, Hornsby Shire Council has chosen Civica’s new Event Management solution to integrate with Spydus10.

(Civica) Civica has kicked off its Annual Technology Roadshow, bringing to Australian and New Zealand library audiences Mr Kari Lämsä from the Helsinki City Library, and Mr Michael Byrne from the City of Maribyrnong in Melbourne. Due for public release in April 2015, the first release of Spydus10 comprises a complete suite of web-based applications that will follow the intuitive workflows that Spydus is known for. This API integration between Axis 360 and the Spydus library management system enables patrons full access to digital content within the Spydus OPAC, bringing a simplified and improved user experience.

(Civica) Civica announced the latest version of the collectionHQ interface which further enables libraries to manage and evaluate their collections. The new features include new fields for 65X subject areas for more in-depth analysis of your subject areas, series information that conform to the new RDA practices, Edition, Publication Dates, Added author, and Corporate author, as well as holds/reservations data to activate collectionHQ’s Holds Reporting Tools. The update also allows for the auto upload of data from Spydus to collectionHQ.

(Civica) Civica announced the release of Spydus 9 Self Service, with Masterton District Library in New Zealand as the first customer to go live. Spydus Self Service, now core to Spydus 9, builds on Civica’s existing self service offering with added functionality including renewals, amendments to reservations and bookings, and viewing of patron details and summary. The Self Service module is part of the focus on supporting library patrons and providing a range of flexible solutions that cover web access, mobile and self service functions.

(Civica) Civica announced the release of Spydus Mobile 1.0.3 for iOS users. Spydus Mobile, with a streamlined look and feel, enables complete access to the library catalogue and user account, plus other unique features including self checkout, which enables library users to issue their own items using a built in scanner.

(Civica) Civica announced an agreement with OverDrive to deliver seamless eBook access in Spydus 9. This partnership is one of the first for Spydus 9, and is the result of customer feedback requesting better integration of electronic resources in the public catalogue.
