Adelaide, Australia—April 29, 2013. Ex Libris Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that Australia's Swinburne University of Technology—an Alma collaborative partner—is in production with the Ex Libris Alma library management solution. In addition, Swinburne University is the first live Alma site whose cloud-based services are delivered by the company's new data center in Singapore.
With a full suite of Ex Libris systems in operation on the Swinburne campus for a number of years, Swinburne welcomed the opportunity to replace much of its library software with a complete, streamlined solution for managing the library's diverse collections and—through Primo—making them fully discoverable. Library Director Teula Morgan commented: "We are thrilled to be the first library in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region to go live with Alma. The successful implementation process and close collaboration between experts at Swinburne and Ex Libris have enabled us to redesign and improve many of our workflows and processes."
Swinburne University is now carrying out a multifaceted, yearlong change program that will have an impact on many aspects of the library's operations. "We are certain that Alma will enable the library to integrate seamlessly with other campus systems and contribute to the academic objectives of the university," added Ms. Morgan. "In the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and partnership, we are willing to share our journey and story with others. We are looking forward to collaborating with other libraries, by sharing resources and support."
The implementation of Alma at Swinburne marks another important event: the opening of the new Ex Libris data center in Singapore. Ex Libris customers in the Asia-Pacific region will now benefit from high performance, high availability cloud based services delivered by a data center in their own backyard.
Holley Dumble, Ex Libris director of sales for Australia and New Zealand, remarked: "It is a great pleasure to see the first of the Australia and New Zealand collaborative partners going live with Alma. Every one of the partners brings a unique and insightful contribution to the long-term potential of Alma, and each library is implementing the solution in a way that maximizes efficiency for its operations. Swinburne has been a close partner of Ex Libris for many years, and we are excited to continue helping it transform its library via Alma."
