Other Info: The Tigard Public Library began in 1963 as a project of the Junior Women’s League. The donated collection was housed in a back room of City Hall. In 1976 the library moved into a former mattress factory on Main Street where it operated for ten years. In 1986, with the help of local and LSCA funds, a new library was constructed which now occupies 13,000 square feet as a part of the Tigard Civic Center. In May 2002, Tigard voters passed a $13 million bond measure to build a new library. The new 47,000 square feet building was completed in the Summer of 2004 and opened to the public Aug. 2, 2004.
